St Thomas’ Cathedral – A Witness to History

Opened on Christmas day 1718 STC in Bombay was designed and built by the British East India Company for their own worship. The company chose a location close to their harbour-based fort in which they lived as a protected group. The land for the church was given by the company to a group of trustees whose successor trustees still oversee the affairs of the cathedral. Over three centuries it has been a witness to a host of historical events. The historical edifice will hopefully continue to remains a divine witness to the evolution of this metropolis and its many precincts.
